It’s Witchland Paperback Publication Day!
Celebrating WITCHLAND Paperback release day.
Today’s the day: WITCHLAND is out in Paperback, available to order here Witchland Paperback on Amazon! The Kindle e-book will be out on 19 September 2026, and it will also be in Kindle Unlimited.
I’m excited. I’m a bit anxious. As you’ve seen in my other blogs, I’ve been on such a journey with this novel.
It’s the first time I’ve dared to share a book with the world. For so long, dreams coming true were something that only happened to other people. Part of me believed that I wasn’t ‘allowed’ to succeed at doing something I loved. If I was happy, something would happen to snatch it away. Every time I had a setback on my WITCHLAND journey, those feelings felt truer than ever.
This comes from growing up as an emotional caretaker for my mother, who had mental health issues for years. Even when she was well, there was a strong sense that it wouldn’t last, because it never did.
Some of those old feelings are coming up now. I think it’s only natural, because much as I want to connect with readers, I’m stepping out of my comfort zone.
It’s just as well that another stubborn part of me keeps dreaming and thinking ‘I have as much right to be happy, to have dreams come true, as anyone else.’
I keep telling myself that, no matter what happens, I’ve made one of my dreams real. My debut novel is out. I can finally hold my book in my hands. Hopefully it will find its way to readers who’ll enjoy it. If WITCHLAND makes one reader smile and feel that warm happy glow that I’ve felt so many times when reading, then that will make my day. Of course, I’d love to have lots of readers, but building a readership will take work (though it’ll be fun, too, because it’s always fun to talk books with people who love reading as much as I do).
I’m proud that I kept going, I’m proud of my book, and now it’s time to celebrate. Here are some of the things I’ll be doing today, paired with extracts from WITCHLAND:
1. Start with a leisurely breakfast (buttered toast) as Eliza does.
She bit into her golden toast, a small delicate bite. The crisp bread gave under her teeth, and the salty, creamy butter tasted divine. It wouldn’t do to sit there with hot butter dribbling down her chin, but Goddess, she could have moaned with pleasure.
2. Wear my crimson dragon wings as homage to Erevus, Eliza’s familiar. Dragons demand lots of praise of their cleverness and magnificence.
Eliza went to him and scratched under his chin, laughing as his forked tongue tickled her. ‘He says we both look splendid, just not as splendid as him.’
3. Hug my WITCHLAND paperback. Laugh, cry happy tears. Sit and stare at my book for ages because it’s so gorgeous and let it sink in: I DID THAT.
